Foreword To The Book 'Folk Art Of The Punjab' By Harjeet Singh Gill 

 This introductory note for the Institute of Punjabi Culture by Professor H. S. Gill delineates the distinctive conceptual features of our tradition. It could be taken as a point of departure for further research in semiological contours manifest in our manuscripts, paintings, ceremonies, rituals and folk art. The study of cultural significance across these channels of conscious or unconscious communication has hitherto been a largely neglected field and it is hoped that the realisation of the internal coherence of cultural structures would stimulate interest in self-analysis with truth and courage, the two basic premises of our heritage.
