Strange But True In Sikhism - Book By Prof. Surindar Singh Kohli
Foreword To The Book 'Strange But True In Sikhism' By Prof. Surindar Singh Kohli
I have been busy in writing the paperbacks in the "Guru Granth Sahib Series" especially for the Sikhs living in foreign countries, because it has been found necessary to give the spiritual food for their own religion to those families, which have settled permanently outside India and have been there for the last few generations. Their offspring have not been in touch with their language and literature. It was considered the best way to make them understand their religious heritage through such series. The books that have been published in the series are 'Death and After', 'Naam', 'Attributes of God' and 'Grace'. The book that has been published out of this series is 'Ritualism and its rejection in Sikhism'. Other two books that are in the press are 'The Sikh and the Khalsa' and 'Strange but True in Sikhism'. My rendering of the 'Dasam Granth Sahib' into English is also being published. A book in the above-mentioned series entitled 'God's Will' (Hukm) is under preparation.
The present work entitled 'Strange But True in Sikhism' includes chapters mostly of paranormal experiences, which I have found in Sikhism. Most of the chapters belong to the spiritual experience. The invisible sphere has been visualised by the advanced souls. Besides Lord-God Himself, His Court, the Court of the god of Justice (Dharmaraja), the god of death (Yama) and his city alongwith his courtiers have been actually scanned by them during their spiritual flights. The story of a lady going from Kabul to Goindwal in Punjab every day for the service of the Guru is very exceptional. She had the power of instant manifestation. The recitation of the hymns of the Sikh Scripture have the healing power. A Sikh saint had actually talked with a ghost and obtained his redemption with the continuous recitation of the Sikh Scripture. A ball-lightning appeared within the precincts of the Hari-Mandir (Golden Temple). This happening is recorded on the gate of the Temple. One of the chapters describes that there is a huge army of martyrs under the direct supervision of the Guru, which protects the Khalsa in the times of emergency. Guru Nanak Dev during his lifetime visited Greece, where he came into contact with the followers of the Sophists of the day and he appreciated their thoughts. The Great Guru has also made a mention of the out of the body experience in his verses. There is a lot of Sikh Literature covering the Cosmic Massages.
In this age of spiritual hunger, I am confident that the world shall relish this present fascinating work of mine.
